Fat Thursday -Polish Tłusty czwartek; Hungarian torkos csütörtök, German Fetter Donnerstag, or in areas where carnival is celebrated Weiberfastnacht; Greek Τσικνοπέμπτη (Tsiknopempti); is a traditional Catholic feast marking the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival.

People purchase their favorite pastries from their local bakeries. Traditional foods include pączki, which are large deep-fried doughnuts, usually filled with rose jam and topped with glazed sugar 
Fillings also vary: the traditional rose preserve can be replaced with vanilla custard or chocolate ganache. The only rule is to make them light and fluffy, which is only achieved when the yeast dough is properly aerated.
The number of these baked goods consumed annually on Fat Thursday is truly astronomical, but you can buy them any day of the year in most bakeries
