THE1 Collaboration 2018

This is my contribution to THE1 Collaboration hosted by Heba M Elalfy.
My inspiration to create my piece was a dreamcatchers. Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. When hung above the bed in a place where the morning sunlight can hit it, the dream catcher attracts and catches all sorts of dreams and thoughts into its webs. Good dreams pass through and gently slide down the feathers to comfort the sleeper below. Bad dreams, however, are caught up in its protective net and destroyed, burned up in the light of day. To create my cake I used one of my favourite medium recently – cocoa butter. The lower part of the dream catcher are hand painted with cocoa butter and edible dusts. Flowers and ring are created of saracino modeling paste, hand piping beads ( royal icing ) and ribbons made of edible lace give work lightness imitating a light breeze.
